在務農為主的年代,外國香菸和洋酒,除了重要場合,平常人家很少會出現。更多的是贈禮,表示對對方的重視;或是有所請託。當時的店家,為了襯托其價值不凡,也紛紛訂做原木的展示櫃。有的搭配彩繪玻璃、有的原木精緻雕刻,讓我們至今也都還是可以感受其精緻細膩的做工。

臺灣煉瓦株式會社為日治時期的一間公司,由後宮信太郎在1913年成立,從事磚、瓦等建築材料生產販售,在臺灣各地設有工廠。臺灣煉瓦株式會社在1918年合併了1914年才成立的撒木耳會社,成為臺灣獨大的煉瓦會社。
臺灣煉瓦所生產的磚塊的一級品會印有「TR」的字樣,為台灣煉瓦(Taiwan Renga)的商標,又稱為「TR磚」,當時許多重要的建築都以TR磚作為建材。
日本企業家後宮信太郎,在1925年借貸收購田中組的金瓜石礦山,被諷為「借金王」。但後來挖掘到本山五坑、並在1933年將礦山開採權轉給日本礦業株式會社後,成為了千萬富翁,而有了「金山王」之稱。

1989年茶坊主人接手時,尺二磚守著水池仙診所的地板,已經不知道多少年了。基於安全考量與恆久經營,九份茶坊也經歷了數次整修。
雖然有些部分破裂,但更換之後,新舊更迭的陶磚,仍然陪著我們繼續前行。
尺二磚,顧名思義,是長寬皆為1尺2的方形陶磚,是一般古早時期所使用的建材之一。陶磚有耐磨隔熱的優點,高溫燒製後,具有高吸水率、低透光度的特性,是一種會呼吸的材質,能調節溼度,又能適度防滑;非常適合多雨的山城中使用。

八腳眠床

很久以前 還有那麼一點印象
偌大的老房
就像迷宮一樣
臥房有座紅眠床
是美好的休憩站
所有頑強
都能在此安放

民國初期,床鋪因多數以朱紅色油漆,稱之紅眠床。基本形式即床的三面有圍,四角立柱,上有頂棚,頂下四周通常還有橫楣。中國南方因它有柱四根而稱為四柱床;但台灣一般稱之八腳眠床。
八腳的意思有二意:一是指其床底架的結構共有八根腳;即二組床架組合而成。另一說法是指除四面圍之外,還要有罩在其外的花罩而形成完整的方形結構;則架外罩共有八根立柱的關係而稱為八腳眠床,是較考究的作法。

獬豸

世間的慾望太過炙熱

細碎的善意

為中國傳說中的神獸。外觀似羊似鹿,頭頂正中有長獨角,雙眼炯炯有神,有短尾,尾巴像蝸牛,還有羊蹄。獬豸喜歡居住在水邊,性情忠貞,與生俱有辨別是非,公正不阿的本能。我國憲兵軍服右臂都會縫有獬豸及「憲兵」字樣臂章,以表公正廉明、忠貞職守之意。這一對獬豸在因緣際會中,被茶坊主人在台中的骨董店發掘後,多年來一直鎮守著店頭,提醒著生意興隆、歷久不衰最重要的道理。

桃園三結義 三尊戲偶

臺灣布袋戲學者吳明德在《布袋戲名稱考述》中,以布袋戲之「布袋」是因早期單人式布袋戲,以肩擔戲演出時收放道具的大型布袋,此布袋在演出時可當作遮蔽主演身軀的布帷,讓觀眾留下鮮明的視覺印象,遂稱之為「布袋戲」。
但「掌中戲」才是業界布袋戲團普遍的共識,因為傳統掌中戲偶全高約八寸到一尺,約四、五兩重,比手掌稍大;但是民間俗稱仍以「布袋戲」為主。
茶坊店頭的三尊掌中戲偶,可明顯看出是男性角色。其中一尊臉面潔白留有長鬚,另外兩尊則是花臉且皆有鬚髯。
白面者,即是布袋戲角色生、旦、淨、末、丑、雜、獸七大類中的「生」角,屬於文生並且是有黑鬚的老生,通常飾演劇中之文官、王爺、朝臣等角色。因此可以確認是桃園三結義中劉備的角色。
另外兩尊花臉則是「淨」角,俗稱「花面」,亦即「大花臉」之意,一般都是武將。外型威猛、身穿戰甲,威風凜凜。有著紅大花臉的即是象徵剛正忠貞的關羽,而黑大臉則是脾氣暴躁兇猛的張飛了。
從茶坊開業至今,這三尊掌中戲偶已佇立店頭數十年。他們不再擔綱主演,而是從演員轉變為觀眾,俯瞰門店川流不息的來客。在2020年的疫情爆發,九份茶坊整修時,日漸褪色陳舊的衣冠,也由茶坊主人,一針一線,帶著感激與慎重的心情,歷時數個晝夜,才終於修復完成。

福州杉

杉木在台灣的木材市場上常稱為杉仔,材質優良。樹形優美,是優良的觀賞樹種。也因為生長快、伐期短,是加工、傢俱及建築的良材。老屋在茶坊主人接手時,屋頂梁柱即是使用整根杉木來作支撐;牆面也是以杉木作為板材。無奈九份天氣多雨潮濕,隨著時間的推移,當有木料腐朽時,即會局部抽換成台灣扁柏老料,來進行補強與穩定結構的工作。

謝籃

是指台灣昔日民間喜慶時常用的容器。敬神、婚慶、送禮、壽辰慶典或祝壽時,盛裝禮品、水果、食物的竹編或籐編禮器。除了以精緻的紋飾編製外,更考究的則塗上珠漆,並繪以吉祥圖案。大型謝籃主要用在結婚、祭神時使用。中型謝籃則用在議婚、選定黃道吉日。小型謝籃是在招待賓客時使用。
台灣俗諺「提籃子假燒金」中的「籃」就是謝籃。是指以前未出閣的姑娘,提著謝籃假裝前往廟裡燒香,其實本意是要外出會情郎,所以才打趣地以「提籃子假燒金」來調侃醉翁之意不在酒。

婚禮宴客時會奉上熱茶事項來的傳統。但在保溫技術尚不發達的早些年代,就是使用木料製成桶狀,用來放置特製的大茶壺,並於茶壺與茶桶之間包覆毛巾等布料保溫。充滿古意的茶桶上還寫有碩大的雙喜,時至今日仍能讓人感受到婚慶的喜悅。

邱錫勳柏油畫

茶坊主人收藏的原作,各式逗趣靈動的柏油小礦工,出現在咖啡杯、茶濾杯上,也能在九份的街頭看見。
邱錫勳是台灣的漫畫家,筆名為山巴。其漫畫人物歪七扭八的怪模怪樣造型,讓讀者噴飯,滑稽突梯的演技叫人拍案叫絕。1968年後,他認為人類歷史悠久,東西方藝術卻只侷限在少數作畫材料,揮灑的空間和原創性當然有限,因此想從新的材料上,走出新的可能。
由於九份多濕,過去居民在屋頂常以柏油塗上毛氈防雨,一次散步時,看到工人正將燒熔的柏油潑淋路面上,流淌的線條有種美感發生,於是跟工人要了一點柏油回去試驗,不過很快地,邱錫勳發現柏油的效果並不如預期,不是過程中凝結速度難以掌握,就是柏油在畫布上的黏著性極低,往往乾了之後產生龜裂,後來還是專長化工的朋友協助,才克服了材料的問題。
以瀝青作畫,竟畫出全球獨一無二的柏油畫。這個創舉讓他名揚國際,獲教宗、各國總統接見,並獲各國邀展。
邱老師多方記錄關於臺灣的風土民情,而居住在九份更該為在地留下紀錄。因此作品多取材自我們熟悉的場景,市場揮汗煮食的麵攤、廟會酬神的野台歌仔戲、九份礦工掘到金礦的歡欣剎那等;以藝術家的眼睛,為我們留下畫面。

念奴嬌

大江東去,浪淘盡、千古風流人物。
故壘西邊人道是,三國周郎赤壁。
亂石穿空,驚濤拍岸,捲起千堆雪。
江山如畫,一時多少豪傑。
遙想公瑾當年,小喬初嫁,了雄姿英發。
羽扇綸巾談笑處,檣櫓灰飛煙滅。
故國神遊,多情應笑我,早生華髮。
人間如夢,一尊還酹江月。

1993年的九份,還不像現在視野幾乎都被建築遮蔽。當時的九份茶坊,放眼望去就是一整片的山海美景。因此蔣勳老師來到九份茶坊品茗觀景有感,而以瑜珈的姿勢,提筆寫下念奴嬌贈與茶坊主人。

贈翁山英書畫

四君子中的竹,細看會發現是用手指所繪,是所謂的「指畫」。落款葉鏡鎔,是日治時期著名的書畫家。而題字贈與的對象,正是老屋第一任屋主翁山英。
九份停止採礦後,十室九空,繁華不再。老屋在現任屋主、也是九份茶坊主人接手後,重新整頓了一番。在因緣際會之下,有人帶了這幅畫來拜訪,說是能找到實屬難得,只希望物歸原主,不求分文。茶坊主人不願平白收下;那天正好賣了一幅畫,就把賣畫所得拿來換回這幅指畫。畢竟讓老件物歸原處,也是美事一樁。
葉鏡鎔,字漢卿,1876年生於新竹縣湖口鄉。年輕時服務於警界,未幾辭職賦歸湖口故鄉,專注於自幼興趣的書畫。自從師事黃瑞圖(雲池)之後,畫藝突飛猛進。葉氏善繪竹蘭,書法表現亦頗可觀。1895年乙未之變,家宅燬於兵火,他為避戰難而僅憑藉一杖一囊遊遍全島。若遇宿食無貲時,即懸其畫作於旅社門首,等待識者求索而不計值。大正七年(1918)起葉氏活躍於藝壇,屢次獲邀參加《臺灣日日新報》之「台日名家紙上書畫展」,從此漸露頭角,足跡遍於台灣遠及日本,其「指書」、「指畫」亦稱一絕。日本昭和天皇尚為太子時,曾在大正年間來台遊覽,於是總督府邀集代表台灣風格之文物供其御覽,而葉氏之水墨畫亦在其中。

金銀花圖騰

九份從前是產金的聚落,一座小小的山城,承載著太多關於富貴的美夢。
採礦停止了以後,夢就隨著變幻莫測的雲朵、山嵐和海風,一點一點地消散了。
留下來的人們,謹慎地撿拾著自己的影子,沿著陡峭的長梯,撐著一季的雨,一階一階往上。所有關於淘金的記憶,只剩繁華曾佇足的印記,還有故事和諺語,在人們口中流轉。
有一天,逐靈感而居的藝術家游牧來到這裡的時候,當年的喧囂繁盛雖然已經煙消雲散。但善於捕捉美的眼睛,從荒城的迷霧中,還能窺見些許繁華曾經的輪廓。
茶坊在一九九一年的隆冬開幕,山城的榮光也即將迎來第二次的春天。藝術家將冷硬的金石,化為可親的元寶。由一化三,綻放出一朵朵雅俗共賞的花朵;喚名金銀花。
金銀花是傳統中藥材,能祛溼解熱,和茶有著相近的功效;又名忍冬。
忍冬、忍冬,忍過了冬天,就是春天。忍過一個又一個的冬天,就能迎來一個又一個的春天。
所以就讓金銀花盛開吧。盛開在原創設計的精緻茶具上,盛開在古老茶坊的幽靜角落裡,盛開在九份茶坊的四季流轉,生生世世。

Tea Drinking

Tea leaves are grown locally in Taiwan that quests the thirst of travelers, conquers the heart of writers, and helps us to get the taste of life.

In 1991, Hung Chi-Sheng introduced tea culture to Jioufen.After wine bars, teahouses in Jioufen have been operating after midnights. Tea wares specially designed by the shop owners are for either new or collected tea leaves. Different flavors satisfy different demands for tea.
In this cultural and artistic atmosphere,
tea fascinates more than wine.

 

The Special Experience of Unique Tea Culture in Jioufen

 

Shanlinxi Oolong

The tea is lightly roasted and harvested from 1,800 meters above sea level. The leaves come with a flowery scent and a long-lasting mellow sweetness.

 

Charcoal Roasted Oriental Beauty

The saliva of Jacobiasca formosana on the tea leaves gives it natural honey and fruity fragrance that is similar to how black tea is made with mellow, sweet, and rich taste, and long-lasting tea leaves. The tea is baked with longan charcoal for five days, so, the longer it is stored, the more innocent and simple taste is appreciated.

 

 

 

 

Red Oolong

Unlike the modern baking of Dong-ding Oolong tea, experienced tea farmers have Red Water Oolong made through traditional complicated processes with an emphasis on strong taste of tea, long-lasting and non-perishable storage that can be treated as a vintage tea collection.

This makes great differences.

In 1989, Hung Chih-Sheng decided to settle at Jioufen. "I will do what I want to do and to realize my own dream. " In that year, at the age of 28, this mountain city becomes the inspiring site for his creation.

Unsettled Life for the Art

Born in the early 1960s in the countryside, Fenyuan of Changhua, he studied in four elementary schools and two junior high schools.From Changhua to Taipei, in that era of material scarcity, he studied and earned his own living since his childhood. When the youth at his age was preparing the entrance exam to universities, he was preparing his driving license exam. His sense asked him to make a living; his sensitivity drew him to painting. His wish during the childhood was to be either a farmer or a painter. He now is not a farmer but he lives in the farmer's way, unsettled for the art creation.

His artist friend said, Hung Chih-Sheng can make money with his left hand and paint with his right hand. You can't sell the cow and drink the milk. So in his life, he concentrated on making a living for a period of time. When he could support himself, he will focus on his painting.

There are two types of painters: one will die without painting and another just cannot stop painting. Hung Chi-Sheng has dear friends that fit the former and he is the latter who is always longing for painting. He feels uncomfortable without the smell of oil painting. People refer him as an artist, But he said he is a person that works with painting, a painter.

Inspiration for artists is like what water and grass for the Nomad; you have to go where inspires you the most.

For some jobs, to be successful, they require 90% hard work and 10% talents. But for artistic work, you need to have 70-80% talents. Art creation is like herding the cattle. Inspiration for the artists is like grass and water for the nomad; you have to go where inspires you the most. The road of art creation of Hung Chi-Sheng works this way; he often carried his paint and devices to look for Inspiration. He even went to China, but he still felt themes related to Taiwan inspire him the most. The beautiful scenery In China could not touch him. The beautiful scene of Guilin makes the ideal theme of painting and it is like the paradise on the earth. But Guilin is too far away from us. It is unreal.

In 1979, he followed his painting teacher to arrive at Jioufen to paint. Nine years later, he came to the same place but the mountain city was quieter. On the way with the painting teacher to the mountain for painting, he arrived at Jioufen after the bumping traffic and saw the beauty in the dark. He felt In love with it at the first sight. There were many beautiful houses, but where were people?? He did not know here is the hometown of gold mining.

An Old House
and Its New Owner

The empty houses, the elderly, the kids, cats and dogs… It is still beautiful. When asking for the direction, Hung Chih-Sheng glanced at a big broken house and in front of the house, there was a beautiful cherry tree, a beautiful stone wall feeling like a castle. He remember the original owner has the family name Wang. After buying this building, the traveler settled down here The second spring of Hung began in Jioufen.

By the chance, another old house at the end of Jioufen was also owned by him, a young painter. The old house is now registered as a historical building by Cultural Affairs Bureau. The building time is now unknown but it was regarded as the oldest building in Jioufen, the leader of Jioufen, the residency of Wong Shan-ying. Later it was rebuilt as Shuichixian Clinic. Now it is Jioufen Teahouse. The history is composed of a series of accidental results. It is the ongoing process.

The previous generation artists settled down in Danshui and this generation artists lives now in Jioufen.

After making a living to support himself in the nine-year period, Hung returned to Jioufen. Jioufen is quieter and more silence filled in the city. It was like a beautiful mountain city in the air. After the sun set and the street lamps were on, Jioufen became more beautiful. Hung decided to settle down here.

His painter friends were joking that the previous generation artists settled down in Danshui and for this generation, Jioufen gathered many artists. The paintings about Jioufen are always popular because here is the hometown of gold mining. Danshui is like the pioneer and now Jioufen takes down the heritage tradition. In the past painters who never painted about Danshui cannot be referred to as painters and now for painters, you have to paint Jioufen.

In Danshui, the historical streets, sea port, semi-mountain city, and sunset are the ideal themes for painting.

Jioufen, the Gift
for Master Painters to Be

Jioufen is full of the culture of miners. The dustpan shape mountain used to gather 50,000 settlers who lived here to work. Jioufen, the gift for master painters to be, has its significant meaning.

When photographers shoot the photo of Jioufen, it takes them three days. But for painting Jioufen, three months are not enough. Painters often stay here for years. They need to be a part of land, people, and scenery. They need to have sentimental feelings toward Jioufen in order to paint the contents and the stories.

Film makers, writers, and painters love to portrait stories of Jioufen. The scenery of Jioufen has different layers of beauty that impresses many people. People in Jioufen are so warm and often touch the heart of others.

Jioufen Teahouse faced the double jointly connected street houses on the historical street is a two-floor stone western building leading to Shuchi Rd. Visitors followed the crowds arrive #142 and at first, they will see plantation under the glass roof and the interpretation sign of "The Old Residency of Wong Shan-Ying." Then the cypress wooden window lattice with historical trace attracts them. The indoor lighting with the natural light from the roof window as well as the water steam of tea pots portrait the scene of the paradise on the earth. The unique stone washed exterior wall of this historical house, the popular decoration used after the World War II, presents the simple and beautiful with good protective sand structure.

 
 

When visitors come to the entrance of wooden stairs to the western building, they will see the circulating water from stone miller under the natural light. The swimming carps are with money plants in the water.
